Donny came to us along with his brother, Dexter, and sister, Mary Bell when they were young pups. Their mother had died and they were in danger on the streets so we were asked to give them a safe haven. Mary Bell still lives at Pariah too, in the same compound as Donny but sadly their brother Dexter lost his life to a cobra bite in 2021. Prior to that, Donny and Dexter were inseparable – proper partners in crime, and after Dexter’s death, Donny was really sad for a few months. 💔
He’s one of the bigger dogs we have at Pariah, right now he’s on the chubby side and we are trying to control his food intake – he’s around 28kg – but he’s a big softy! He can be wary of humans he doesn’t know at first and will bark at them (not aggressively) when they enter his compound, and be a bit stand-offish but once you gain his trust (and that normally only takes a few minutes, lol) he is a big squeezy, huggable lump of lovely! He loves to push right up against me and nuzzle in waiting for me to scratch his ears and the area above his tail (he loves that and wiggles his bum!)
He’s normally very good with other dogs (there have been more than one instance where their fence broke and he was in a compound with other dogs he doesn’t know so well, and he had no bothers … he was lying down chilling with them all!), but if other dogs threaten him, he will protect himself and his sister.
