Handsome Harvey has been with us since he was a little pup. His original name (which we only found out recently, was Ranger – as in Lone Ranger, because even as a young pup he liked to keep himself to himself and stayed away from the hubbub and the other dogs!)
He is the shyest dog we have at Pariah, very timid with humans. He doesn’t even come to the volunteers if they want to give him tinned wet food (which is a rare treat!) He’s relaxed with the dogs he shares a compound with and when the humans aren’t about the lounges beside them and joins in if they chase birds/squirrels etc!
But for the most part, he likes to be dashingly handsome but at a distance! Our goal is to be able to spend more time with Harvey so he learns to trust humans more, so we can help him become a more adoptable pooch. He suffered an injury in 2021 and had to spend some time in the clinic, despite the fact he was very nervous and scared of the volunteers when they were treating his wounds, he never once growled or tried to bite anyone. He’s a big softy, just needs some help building his confidence. He’s very lovable and with patience and care would be a gorgeous pet.
